Rain Stars in His First Hollywood Starring Role as the ‘Ninja Assassin’

Rain is aiming to become the next big action star from the east after Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat and Jet Li. His first appearance in a Hollywood film was in Speed Racer, and now Rain (aka Jung Ji-hoon) has nabbed a leading role in a film called Ninja Assassin.

Rain will portray Raizo, a kidnapped child who is raised to be a professional killer but ends up seeking revenge against the clan that made him who he is.

Synopsis:

Ninja Assassin follows Raizo (Rain), one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge.

In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.

Yoon Eun Hye's comeback drama My Fair Lady has started it's filming! On the 24th, they filmed the first scene in which Kang Hye Na (Yoon Eun Hye) is doing charity work by playing with children at a nursery school. Unlike most of her past characters, this time Yoon Eun Hye plays a rather prickly, arrogant, and rich princess.

She has been very involved in the filming for her new drama and it looks like she's giving it her all. Not unlike Park Ye Jin, she entered the chicken coop and picked up the chicken without any problems at all. Of course, the males were a bit more unnerved by the live chickens and they were rather surprised at her nonchalance.

On the other hand, Yoon Sang Hyun filmed his first scene in which he meets with a night club owner. He has completely thrown away his 2nd generation, rich guy image from Queen of Housewives and has transitioned into his role of a dirt-poor, former gambler.

As both Yoon Sang Hyun and Jung Il Woo fight for the love of the princess, it seems Yoon Eun Hye has another hit on her hand. Looking from these pictures, Yoon Eun Hye is looking rather hot so I know I'll be looking forward to August 19th.

Would Ashley Greene be better as Bella?

I don't know how you feel about Ashley Greene but I think the girl is georgeous. Personally I think she'd be better to play Bella the main character in Twilight than Kristen Stewart.

Bella in the book is someone who needs protection all the time hence Edward Cullen became so protective of her throughout the book. Ashley Greene although she does not exude to be the type that needs constant proection but she has more of the feminine quality like the Bella the author portrays.

I am disappointed with the character of Bella played by Kristen Stewart, personally I believe Ashley Greene would be better as Bella.

On her character, Alice Cullen: “I love Alice. I originally went in [auditioned] for Bella and they gave me the part of Alice. I love the character, I got really lucky. I think she’s so lovable and she’s so cool. I get to see the future and she’s cute, she’s happy. I think that everyone kind of likes Alice so I am extremely happy that I got the part.”

On if she’s Team Jacob or Team Edward: “Oh, you know I am ‘Team Jacob’ when they were still deciding on whether to keep Taylor or not, but Edward is my brother. I adore them both, so I believe that I will am Switzerland.”

On her favorite scene in Twilight: “The one scene that was rough to shoot was the baseball scene because we were outside and it was freezing. It took a while to shoot but when it came out, I think it’s my favorite scene.”

On a character she’d love to play: “I wanna do everything, I really do. I really want to do a period piece and since I’ve dipped my toes into it in Twilight, I’d really like to do an action film. I think that’d be fun. There’s not a lot of films where you get to be a action hero, so that would be a good one.”

After her marriage, Michelle Reis makes her comeback in Bodyguards and Assassins, fulfilling her 10-year promise to Peter Chen.

Producer Peter Chen divulged that he could not find anyone else more suitable for the role than Reis. After about three months of shooting, filming was finally wrapped up yesterday in Shanghai.

After marrying a tycoon last year, Reis has been busy with enjoying her current lifestyle. However, at the invitation of renowned producer, Peter Chen, to star in his film, Reis immediately agreed and finally made a return to the entertainment scene after her marriage.

In this movie, Reis took on the role of a devastatingly beautiful woman who changed the entire life of a beggar, portrayed by Leon Lai in the movie. She rallied around him nd helped him find the courage and pride to live on. Despite past rumours about them, the pair do not share much onscreen time in this movie.

On her role in the movie, Reis expressed, "I cried after reading the script for this movie. The character made me believe that love knows no boundaries, not even life or death."

Director Teddy Chen shared that he started planning for Bodyguards and Assassins 10 years ago. He had always wanted to Reis to star in that role, however, due to certain filming complications, the script was consistently being changed with much alterations made to the role of the beggar. Despite that, Teddy had no qualms of his decision to star Reis in her role, "Reis has a kind of ability to calm and influence people, and this has not changed over the course of 10 years."

Peter revealed that he was initially worried that he might be disturbing Reis, however he could not find anyone else more suitable than her. He was also surprised that the latter immediately agreed to his request.

The married Hong Kong actress feels that married life does not change things much and shared that her husband has been very supportive of her filming this movie.

During an interview with the Chinese press, the actress said, "Before my marriage, I was a person who needed a lot of personal space. For example, if a job required me to be at a certain place for a month long, I could immediately comply after informing my family, they are okay with it."

"I have always been working although I was more focused on advertising work and appearing at functions. I have been receiving lots of scripts, however, I am not satisfied with most of them. Now that I have a family, I feel that I should be more careful and thorough with choosing my next project so that I can give both the audience and myself a good reason for my appearance, said the actress who went on and elaborated about the support and trust she received from her husband.

The stellar cast of Bodyguards and Assassins features the likes of Donnie Yen, Tony Leung, Nicholas Tse, Hu Ge, Eric Tsang, Simon Yam, Fan Bing Bing, and Leon Lai.

South Korean Actor Kwon Sang-woo to join The Green Hornet Movie?

South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo is rumoured to join Hollywood production "The Green Hornet".

So what is The Green Hornet about and what's the fuss you may ask?

The Green Hornet is a fictional masked crime fighter created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker for an American radio program in the 1930 (wiki). Columbia Pictures is turinng this into a movie and set for release date on June 25, 2010.

Kwon Sang-woo is rumoured to join the cast of The Green Hornet as Kato (the driver of the Green Hornet) after Stephen Chow a Hong Kong actor stepped down, allegedly due to language issue. While nothing has been announced there is a good chance that KSW will join the cast with charismatic actress Cameron Diaz.

Isn't it great to see an opportunity like this offered to our handsome actor KSW. I have my fingers cross for this to be true and that we'll see him on the big screen.

Hollywood remaking South Korean "A Bittersweet Life"

Oscar winning actor Denzel Washington will star in a remake of South Korean film "A Bittersweet Life" directed by Kim Ji-woon.

This project has been in development at Fox and tells the story of a highly cultural and ruthlessly violent society as it illustrates the ethical codes in the Korean mob and how they clash with personal morality.

The title character is an enforcer for underworld boss who is
given a task that he fails to execute. Double-crossed and faced with certain death, he regroups and sets up a plan to exact his revenge.

It will be interesting to see the transformation of South Korean culture into Hollywood style movie. With Denzel Washington as the lead man you can expect no less than an Oscar performance than the original actor Lee Byung-hun.

South Korean actor Lee Byung-hun plays a bad-ass ninja Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra currently showing in cinemas.

Hong Kong star Raymond Lam hosted a press conference on July 20 at Caravelle Hotel before his live concert on July 22.

Interview between SGGP and Raymond.

SGGP: Being a star in both acting and singing, you probably do not have not much free time.

RL: I can manage my time schedule quite well. I also receive a lot of encouragement from my family. My family works in business and they don’t have much time for each other. But we all understand that, and we still encourage and take care of each other in other ways.

SGGP: People believe that a good appearance helps an actor or singer a lot in their career. What do you think?

RL: Generally, I think to be either an actor or a singer, the most important thing is performance. You need to study a lot from each other and keep training yourself. That would be a very helpful factor to help you gain success.

But, I also agree that good appearance somehow will help you. Thanks to a good appearance, more people will notice you and you will have more opportunities to work.

SGGP: When deciding to join both the acting and singing fields, did you ever worry that you could not finish all your work perfectly?

RL: At first, I thought people can do a lot more than they can think. A few years ago, I tried my best in acting. This year, I focus on singing. I’m so thankful to TVB [Hong Kong-based TV channel] for their understanding and arranging the time schedule for me to be able to visit and perform in Vietnam. So, I think what you need is support and good teamwork.

SGGP: Three days is quite short for all the preparations of a live concert.

RL: As I said, I had a live concert in Hong Kong in June and learnt a lot of experiences from that. In Vietnam, some of my songs from TVB’s series became popular and, probably, I will perform them in the upcoming concert. I always tell myself that I have to do my best for the concert on July 22. Please keep encouraging and supporting me. Thanks.

SGGP: A personal question: there is rumor that you’re in love with Linda Chung.

RL: It’s very common that there are some rumors that love appears between the actor and actress in a series or movie. I had an opportunity to work with Linda in two series, "Heart of Greed" in 2007 and "Moonlight Resonance" in 2008. But, I cannot understand why, as the series finished long ago, but the rumors still keep spreading more and more. Maybe our characters from two series really impressed the viewers. However, rumors are only rumors. On behalf of myself, I really expect another chance to work with Linda in the coming time.

SGGP: Your discography noted that besides many TV series, you have only been in one movie, "Stolen Love". Why? Will you consider more movies in the future?

RL: I have received lots of invitations from various movie directors, but, due to a current busy schedule, I barely find free time for those. At present, I’m joining a new series by TVB. After the concert in Vietnam, I will go back to Hong Kong on July 24 to continue shooting the film. Possibly I will reconsider the invitations, but not until at least October.

Louis Koo gain 30 pounds for new movie

To promote new movie "Eavesdropping Situation" 《竊聽風雲》(directed by Alan Mak), Louis Koo Tin Lok, Daniel Wu Yiu Cho and Sean Lau Ching Wan appeared as guests on the Mainland talk show 《背後的故事》. The trio discussed the ups and downs of their careers and Daniel Wu revealed that he was extremely nervous when he filmed opposite Shu Qi early in his career.

When he was still a novice actor, Daniel had the opportunity to film opposite Shu Qi, who was already a popular artist at the time. Daniel felt very nervous and sweated in each scene opposite his co-star. Shu Qi was very friendly towards Daniel and often chatted with him, leading him into their scenes together. She assisted him and the pair became very good friends. If they were to film together again, Daniel will not be nervous.

While filming "The Banquet," Daniel grew close with Zhou Xun. Since the pair were both Libras, they shared numerous similarities. Daniel considered Zhou Xun to be one of his "brothers."

In “Eavesdropping Situation,” Louis gained 30 pounds for his role. However, since he portrayed a cancer patient in the movie, he had to shed 20 pounds to film the back-half of the movie. Since there was not much time between gaining weight and losing the weight afterwards, he did not eat for three days. He exercised profusely and ran for every 2 hours during every six hour interval. Despite this rigorous routine, Louis felt that this was his responsibility as an actor. Louis pointed out that Robert DeNiro gained 60 pounds for his movie, “Raging Bull.”

Wonder Girls Sing 'Nobody' at US Show

K-pop group Wonder Girls performed on Wendy Williams Show

The Wonder Girls, South Korea's pop sensation now active in the United States, made a successful appearance on a U.S. TV talk show on Monday with hit song ``Nobody.''

The five-member girl band sang the song in English on the daytime Wendy Williams Show in New York and drew a standing ovation. The members enthralled the spectators by wearing the same clothes as in South Korea. The producers also created a stage similar to that from the music video of the song.

The talk show Web site was plastered with postings invariably praising the Wonder Girls' performance. One of the postings said, `` I love the Wonder Girls! Thanks Wendy for having them on your show. I love you and the Wonder Girls. I love watching your show and I also hope everyone will support the Wonder Girls debut in America.''

Park Jin-young, CEO of JYP Entertainment, the group's agency, was quoted as saying, ``They killed it! They always deliver in crunch time.''

Other Wonder Girls hit songs include ``Tell Me'' and ``So Hot.'' The five members are Sun, Yenny, Mimi, Sohee and Yubin.

Chris Brown apologises for Rihanna assault

R&B singer Chris Brown issued a video apology on Monday for assaulting former girlfriend Rihanna, pleading for forgiveness from his fans for "inexcusable" behaviour.

Brown, who will next month be sentenced to 180 days of community service for the February 8 incident, posted the apology on his official website in a two-minute statement made directly to camera.

"I wish I had the chance to live those few moments again, but unfortunately I can't," Brown said. "I'm not going to sit here and make any excuses. What I did was inexcusable.

" The 20-year-old singer said he had apologised repeatedly to Barbados-born "Umbrella" singer Rihanna and revealed that he continued to seek help to prevent a repeat of his outburst.

"I have told Rihanna countless times, and I'm telling you today, that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation differently and better," he said.

"As many of you know, I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence, and I saw first-hand what uncontrolled rage could do.

"I have sought and I am continuing to seek help to ensure that what occurred in February can never happen again ... What I did was unacceptable, 100 per cent. I can only ask and pray that you forgive me, please.

" Brown escaped a jail sentence after a plea deal with prosecutors over the assault, which took place as the couple drove home from a pre-Grammy Awards party.

The incident shocked the music world and left Rihanna nursing cuts and bruises to her face, forcing her to cancel a scheduled performance at the Grammys in Los Angeles.

Affidavits filed in the case alleged Brown slammed Rihanna's head against the window of a car the couple were travelling in before repeatedly punching and biting her.

HK singer Denise Ho comes out of the closet

Hong Kong singer Denise Ho dropped a bombshell during a promotional event for a radio show on Saturday, admitting that she is attracted to women.

Rumours of lesbianism had long been surrounding the androgynous singer who is constantly captured in intimate photos with female stars. And when asked if she was homosexual, Ho told host Sammy Leung, "Yes. End of answer".

Leung's jaw dropped while the audience were shocked into silence.

"I've been asked this question for so many years, I wanted to give a fresh answer this time," Ho later told reporters. "Being gay is no big deal," added the 32-year-old, who touches on lesbianism in some of her songs.

As part of the event, stars had to respond to questions raised by the media, and many were unsure if Ho was serious or just playing the game.

Ho's rumoured ex-boyfriend, singer Wilfred Lau, thinks it was just a "friendly joke", while others say she was out to attract attention.

That must be a great relief to her to finally tell the truth about her sexuality and no longer have to put up with a charade being someone she's not.

HK actress Charmaine Sheh tackles romance rumours

It’s rare that celebrities are willing to tackle rumours about their love lives head on.

Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh, however, was one such celebrity when she took on reporters’ questions on her rumoured romance with actor Kevin Cheng on Monday during the “TVB Star Tour”.

The pair have collaborated on numerous drama serials in the past including the recent epic TVB period drama “Beyond The Realm Of Conscience”, which Sheh was in town to promote.

Sheh and Cheng were rumoured to be dating after being photographed together by the paparazzi on numerous occasions, though the two have maintained that they are “good friends”.

“Even if we were in the same car, or eating at the same table, it doesn’t mean we’re dating, besides before dating you’ll still have to go through the stage of being regular friends,” replied Sheh calmly, “I won’t stop meeting up with my friends because of rumours, if that was the case, I’d only have female friends!”

Besides rumours that Sheh was the third party in Cheng’s previous relationship with actress, Niki Chow, the Hong Kong media had also reported that Sheh had previously asked a reporter to help pass on the message to Cheng to woo her.

“I don’t have time to follow what the Hong Kong media are writing, sometimes what they write is really exaggerated,” said Sheh. “We began with [2003 TVB drama] ‘The Point Of No Return’ and have collaborated for many years. We’ve known each other for a long time even before that, it’s just that no one took notice,” said Sheh,

“Actually, [Cheng’s] never wooed me, we just get along.

” And the 34-year-old does not appear to be too bothered by the rumours.

“It’s not exactly bad, the rumours have been going on for as long as we have been filming. It’s also good publicity,” she said.

When asked what she thought were Cheng’s positive traits, Sheh replied, “He cares about his family, he’s steady, but I think I prefer guys who are more optimistic and talkative.”

But the question that was on everybody’s minds was: would she even consider dating Cheng?

“Not for now, but no one knows what’s going to happen in the future,” was Sheh’s response.

Vicki Zhao delays graduation for 'Mulan'

Chinese actress Vicki Zhao wants it all and now she is paying the price.

The "Painted Skin" actress who is pursuing a masters degree in directing at the Beijing Film Academy, has to delay her graduation after failing to complete her graduation project.

Zhao was supposed to graduate this summer but the 33-year-old put her studies aside to focus on her latest movie "Mulan", in which she plays the titular character.

"I am a good student. I don't want to finish the project hastily," she said during an interview with the Star Daily. "But Mulan is such a good role that you don't have any reason to turn it down. So I decided to finish the film first and then concentrate on my project. I have been preparing it all along, and I hope I can present it next year."

Zhao declined to reveal what her project is about, only saying that it will be a "surprise".

"Playing the role of Mulan is the most important thing for me this year. It will have a great influence on my career," she said.

A feature film about Mulan has been in development for years with a number of actresses considered for the lead role including "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" stars Zhang Ziyi and Michelle Yeoh. Directed by Jingle Ma, "Mulan", an epic story of the Chinese girl-warrior who fights to defend her father, also stars Jaycee Chan, son of Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan. It is set for a 2010 release.

Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi postpones wedding

Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi will not be taking on another last name for a while as her wedding to Israeli multi-millionaire Aviv ‘Vivi’ Nevo has reportedly been postponed.

The couple were engaged in February last year and the 44-year-old Nevo was supposedly looking at holding the wedding at an offshore Italian island that his friend owns. Due to their busy schedules, however, the two have postponed their wedding, which sources say, was due to take place next month.

The couple have been inseparable since they started dating two years ago and have often been caught canoodling by the paparazzi. Of late, Zhang has been busy promoting her new big screen foray, “Sophie’s Revenge”, a romantic-comedy which she produced and starred in.

In an interview with a Chinese magazine, 30-year-old Zhang said that she has always dreamed of having a family of her own. But she isn’t about to get hitched just to fulfil that dream.

“What if the marriage doesn’t work out? Once I get married, I want to be like my parents, together for a lifetime...” Zhang also added in an interview with the Global Times that she would not disrupt her booming career for marriage.

Looks like fans will have to wait a while more before they see Zhang walk down the isle.

Jung Woo later learns that his father was a cruel, vicious man. He ends up taking the blame for Tae Hyuk’s crime, and he goes to prison. He's so ashamed of himself and therefore never approach Soo Hyun with his love however, Soo Hyun becomes slowly attracted to Jung Woo, making Tae Hyuk even more obsessive over her.

Lee Soo Hyun - In her childhood, Soo Hyun spent some time in Jeju island with her grandfather who owned a farm there. This was when she met Jung Woo for the first time at an orphanage. Following the tragic death of her parents and her beloved grandfather she continues to strive on a life journey all alone. She doesn't lose sight of her dreams. She is stubborn and ambitious, and there isn’t a single job she does not go through in the process.

Jang Tae Hyuk - An upset rich boy. Money brings top sports car and expensive clothes but can’t bring comfort to his heart. Lee Wan plays the role of a rich boy Teo Hyuk who has best friendship with Jeong Woo but fell in love with Soo Hyun as well.

As expected it is just another typical k-drama love triangle. I will watch it nevertheless because I love all three of the main cast. Seong Yu-ri is one of my favourites Korean actress and I love her style so I am watching out for what she wears in the drama.

The Last Airbender : The movie

Have you ever seen the cartoon "Avatar: The Last Airbender"? It's a must see, I totally recommend it. I was hooked from the first episode and I am 30 yo btw. What I am saying is that cartoons are not necessarily for kids. Are you hearing me? It has a great story and a good sense of humour. Check it out if you can!

Story:

The story is base on a young monk name Aang whose destiny is to save the world from the Fire Nation brutal acttack on the other three nations (Earth, Water and Air). He must learn all the techniques i.e. Air bending, Earth bending, Water beding and finally Fire bending to have the power to defeat the Fire Lord.

Hollywood is now making the movie version with real actors and they are currently in the process of casting actors for the various roles.

UK women envy Megan Fox's body

According to UK Heat magazine survey, Megan Fox topped the list of most envied bodies. Why? I couldn't tell you but the votes received for Fox say she is the favourite. Last year winner Cheryl Cole drop to second place.

Blair and Chuck kissing scene on set of Gossip Girl

Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) were filming a kissing scene for Gossip Girl Season 3 yesterday.

At the end of Season 2, the pair finally hooked up and Chuck declared his love for Blair (that was the ending that I was hoping for). Blair finally got the man she loves.

So, clearly, the start of season 3 will begin with Blair and Chukck playing loverbirds but for how long will remain to be seen.

From the photo (above) it looks to me that yet again Chuck is playing down his affection for Blair (although deep down inside he loves her) he seems untouched by her kiss (hey, I might be wrong) that means Blair may again finds herself in the same position as she was in last season ...... he loves me he loves me not??

I hope this time around Blair will be the tough one and Chuck will have to fight for her love.

Gossip Girl Clothing Line Dropped By Target

We were this close to being able to dress like the characters on Gossip Girl, and now we’re back to square one! Target has decided to scrap plans for a GG-inspired clothing line.

Anna Sui, who is also a featured designer on the show, was slated to create the line. But Target execs decided they didn’t want to be associated with the racy show anymore.

A source close to the deal tells The New York Daily News, “One of Target’s top executives got nervous about being that closely associated with the show, given the (debauchery) its characters get into.”

A launch party had already been planned as well, and Gossip Girl producers are now furious that it’s been canceled.

The source goes on to say, “There was going to be signage as well as Target symbols in purple and black - Anna’s signature colors. And it was rumored that Anna herself was going to be making a cameo appearance. The crew was thrown into a frenzy because they had to scrap everything they had planned. They can’t believe Target would bail on them, especially after publicly announcing the collaboration.” At least we’ll always have Forever 21 for our back-to-school looks!

Too bad, our Gossip Girl show lovers cannot dress like their favourite stars. What ashamed because the clothing on the show was very nice and to be sold at Target would mean that it's affordable. A bummer executive decision!!!

Is Lee Da Hae secretly married?

No no.. I don't think so. Lee Da-hae is only doing the photoshoot for the Wedding magazine July 2009 edition. She looks gorgeous though. She would make a beautiful bride for whomever the groom maybe.

Is Singer Gigi Leung getting married?

According to Hong Kong daily Ming Pao reported that the French furniture designer, known only as Sly, hopes to marry singer/actress Gigi Leung in Paris next year. The pair met through friendshave been dating over three years (shortly after her split with ex-BF Ekin Cheng in 2006 ) and that Sly has popped the question but Gigi (33) still has not given him the answer.

"He did bring up marriage, but he didn't officially propose to me," Gigi was quoted saying.

"I am not in a hurry to get married. Moreover, he is a Westerner and our cultures are so different. I need more time to get to know him better, at least three times as long. Kelly Chen, (Hong Kong singer) dated for 16 years before she got married!"

Recently there were reports that Gigi's ex-boyfriend Ekin Cheng is marrying girlfriend Yoyo Mung but nothing has been confirmed.
