Huang Xiaoming appears in the September issue of "Men's Style", the Harper's Bazaar fashion magazine, in a photo shoot and article about his new spy film.
The protagonist from the upcoming espionage film "The Message" looks cool and calm in the black-and-white photo shoot, revealing the same solitary, questioning look and sophistication as Takeda, the Japanese spy chief he portraits in the film.
In an article accompanying the magazine photos, Huang discusses his perception of his character in the movie and recalls the challenges he took to act with a handful of veteran actors crowned as the industry's best. They included Zhang Hanyu, Wang Zhiwen, Zhou Xun and Li Bing Bing.
In the film, Huang breaks away from his stereotypical clean-cut idol image to play a rough and tough villain. To better build up the role, the actor had his hair cut short and his face cosmetically scarred. Now it seems that his efforts have paid off as his performance in the drama has received critical acclaim.
This is Huang's third appearance in the magazine.
