Chinese pop singer Raymond Lam to start Asia tour in Vietnam


Raymond Lam has chosen Vietnam as the first stop of his 2009 Asia tour. He will perform in Ho Chi Minh City on July 22.


Raymond Lam, also known for his television acting on Hong Kong’s leading broadcaster TVB, will bring about a colorful music environment, featuring his pop ballads with a twist. He will sing with various tempos on many of his most popular songs. At the opening concert of the tour, Raymond will not only perform some old favorites, but present some new songs from his latest album. The concert also welcomes some guest performances from local singers.


The highlight of the performance on July 22 will be his duet with a local singer. The name of the song and singer have been kept under wraps. When asked about working with Emperor Entertainment Group (EGG), the tour’s organizer, to handle the opening concert, Huynh Le Khanh, director of Funehouse - the Vietnamese organizer, said: “This is a special treat from the company to local music and Chinese film fans.” Foreign singers also expect Funehouse to hold professional concerts, he added.


Tickets cost: VND200,000 (US$11), VND400,000 ($22), VND600,000 ($33), VND800,000 ($44) and VND1 million ($55). Tickets can be bought from various places in the city, including Funehouse’s offices (179 Nguyen Cu Trinh, District 1), Khong Ten bar (147B Hai Ba Trung, District 3), SECC, Thanh CD Shop (3 Nguyen Thien Thuat, District 3), Hiep Thanh CD Shop (588 Tran Hung Dao, District 5) and Tomato Shop (341 Nguyen Tri Phuong, District 5).

Raymond Lam, 30, stepped into the entertainment industry and became popular after appearing in various TVB productions, such as ‘A Step into the Past’, ‘Eternal Happiness’ and ‘Face to Fate’. He started his singing career with EEG and has released three albums: Searching for You in Loving Memories, Your love and Let’s Get Wet.

Raymond has pocketed various awards and accolades, such as Best Newcomer at the 2007 Metro Radio Hits Awards, Best Television Singer at the 2008 Music Chart Award 9+2, and Most Outstanding Newcomer (Hong Kong) at the 2008 Sprite Music Charts Awards.
