Hong Kong celebrity couple Charlene Choi and Ronald Cheng have denied a rumor that they are married and said they have not been together for some time, sina.com reports.
Choi appeared at the premiere of "Beauty on Duty" in Beijing on Wednesday, while Cheng was in Chengdu promoting "Just another Pandora's Box." Although they were in different cities, they both told reporters about the end of their relationship.
"We parted peacefully," Choi said. "It may sound a little bit stereotypical. We broke up because of better understanding (of each other). We didn't make much publicity of our relationship since the very beginning, because we thought it was our private thing, but now there are many rumors about us, so I think it's time to tell you the truth. We are still friends."
Choi, 27, and Cheng, 38, were first spotted dating in 2004 after they collaborated on the comedy "Hidden Heroes." A local tabloid recently reported that the couple had registered for a marriage license in Los Angeles, California, in 2006.
